Why choose a gray haired personal trainer?

There are a lot of considerations when hiring a personal trainer.   Of course, technical competence is one requirement.  Beyond that, can he or she understand your experience and objectives in order to design the right program for you?  Life experience counts.

This business began over years ago based upon my own interest in health and fitness as I headed toward 50.  I was always healthy and active and was determined to stay that way.  This led me to 7 years of dedicated research crossing many health related disciplines.

If improving and maintaining your health for the long run is a PRIMARY concern, we have a lot to talk about.

Independent Research IS Hard To Come By
I am a big fan of capitalism, but in the areas of diet, fitness and general wellness, there are too many "snake-oil" salesmen.  We are constantly bombarded with products and services that claim will make us all slimmer, healthier or happier for the right price.

Government agencies and professional orga
nizations  are supposed to keep everyone honest, but industry lobbying and money are often at odds with the general welfare.  Nowhere is that more evident than the influence of the pharmaceutical companies on the FDA.  Do we all really need to be on countless prescriptions by age 65?  There are better ways to maintain your health.

My Research Methods

Before I even started working on my personal trainer certification, I had spent years reading dozens of books and hundreds of articles on the subjects of diet, exercise and general wellness issues.  Through a friend, I have had total access to the latest professional journals, including The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, The Journal of Applied Physiology, and Medicine and Science in Sports & Exercise.

All items of interest are added to my subject referenced Access database.  If I don't have an answer in my head, I know where to find it.  I try to educate my clients for the day when they all go solo.  Check out just some of my writings contained on the LIBRARY and NATURAL SOLUTIONS pages.

My pledge to you

Personalized exercise programs built in accordance with your objectives and the most current ACE and ACSM guidelines.  I pledge to be an independent information provider on any of the wellness subjects I have researched.  I will help you to sort out and understand the mountains of health and wellness related information funneled to the general public.
